What I Offer . Practice

What I Offer

I work with adults (18+) offering counselling and psychotherapy and relationship, couples counselling from Monday to Friday and Saturdays, and during these challenging times I can offer: FaceTime, Skype and Telephone consultations for consultations and ongoing sessions.

From October 2023I am embarking on training to offer Clinical Supervision to Psychotherapists.

Having had an initial consultation over the phone, I would suggest we arrange a suitable time to meet to discuss your requirements further. This gives you the opportunity to describe how you’ve been feeling and what prompted you to seek help. It’s also an opportunity to make sure you feel comfortable talking to me and decide whether you wish to continue. As a fully qualified, registered Counsellor and Psychotherapist I work with both individuals and couples (18+) from my private practice at Knighton Fields Road East LE2, which is 1.2 miles from the University of Leicester, 0.7 miles from Clarendon Park, and 1.8 miles from the Leicester Royal Infirmary. I'm also GDPR compliant: 00045749944

What is counselling & psychotherapy?

Individual Counselling & Couples Counselling

Broadly speaking, counselling is used to describe; short-term, time limited work, which focuses on a specific area of your life that is of concern. Counselling is typically: 6 - 12 sessions depending upon your individual need. You might be embarking on a new relationship, or be in a current one and be concerned about how this makes you feel or, you may feel low and have no idea why. During the sessions, I tend to use Relationship, Psychodynamic, CBT (cognitive behavioral therapy) Person Centred Therapy and Solution Focused techniques, however, how I use these depends upon your needs at that time.

Psychotherapy

Psychotherapy is usually a longer-term commitment. You might attend weekly sessions for several months or for several years, however, everyone is different. Psychotherapy goes deeper into the possible, underlying causes of present concerns, and involves exploring your past experiences and linking them to your current way of relating. I believe we develop patterns of thinking and relating to others which are influenced by our earlier experiences. Often, we are not aware of these underlying thought processes and yet, they may play a part in how we feel and relate to other people in the here and now.

Whether you chose short-term counselling, couples counselling or embark on a longer-term commitment of psychotherapy, having the opportunity to explore a deeper understanding of who you are within a safe, confidential setting, can help you make better decisions and move on with your life.
