Hello, my name is Shaun and welcome to my website, I hope you find my details helpful.

I have over over 12 years clinical experience working with adults and young adults (18+) who present with an array of issues including, relationship, anxiety, depression, panic attacks, self harm and thoughts of suicide. My work typically tends to be around 6-12 sessions utilising Relationship, CBT, Symbolisation and Solution Focused techniques for clients seeking individual counselling and couples counselling. I also use a more in depth Psychodynamic, Psychothereputic approach, which tends to explore childhood, adolescent and adulthood experiences over a longer period.

Most of us experience times in our lives when we feel low, worried or anxious. This might be because of specific difficulties such as anxiety, panic attacks or depression, it could also be a general sense of feeling down and simply not understanding why. Do you tend to constantly prioritise other people's needs over and above your own for example? Talking to a trained therapist offers you the opportunity to explore what concerns you might have in a confidential, non-judgemental setting with someone who explores what life events might have contributed to these feelings.


I am trained to work with individuals and couples (18+) who find it difficult to connect and maintain long term, trusting, loving relationships. You may find that after a certain period of time you find yourself withdrawing from your relationships. You might be someone who finds it very painful and anxiety provoking to be apart from your partner, or alternatively you might have been ‘in and out’ of the dating scene for sometime, and are wondering what is going wrong, well you’re not alone.

You might experience new or existing relationships challenging, and part of this might be because; people can find it very difficult to feel safe, secure and respected when sharing how they really feel, especially when the issues to be addressed are deeply personal. Perhaps you have a history of partners being unfaithful, abusive and violent? Or perhaps you grew up in an environment that was challenging and love and affection was not the norm?

I provide a warm, non judgemental, safe space for you to; locate and share your story in your own words, connect with your innermost feelings, and learn to trust that 'relationships can be safe and fulfilling'. If at any time you feel that you need to take some ‘Time Out’, I have another room whereby you can recalibrate to gather your thoughts for a short while as, let's be honest, sometimes we just need the time and space to calm down.

There are many different exercises we can do, and if you feel you would prefer practical, written exercises to be a part of your talking therapy, we can do this. Or we can work together using talking therapy without the ‘home work’, but, as always, we discuss what you need to achieve, and need during the consultation and take things from there.

I practice from two locations, the first is in Grange Farm, Oadby with plenty of parking, and the other is from Knighton Fields Road East with two consulting rooms, just off the Welford Road, 1.2 miles from the University of Leicester, 0.7 miles from Clarendon Park and 1.8 miles from the Leicester Royal Infirmary. Both locations are easy to find by car or public transport, and are both very warm and welcoming.

Initially, you might decide to have 6 sessions of counselling to see how you feel, you might decide you wish to continue for longer. In some cases my clients have met with me for up to 4 years however, my work will always be based around what you want to achieve during your treatment.
